Expert Witness Litigation Support
Correctional medicine litigation cases require a physician expert witness with solid understanding of the clinical and administrative aspects of delivering healthcare to the incarcerated population. Our physicians have decades of experience in the correctional setting, working as care providers, serving as healthcare administrators, and providing oversight of correctional health systems.
DMS e-MD Review
For correctional healthcare cases that are not in active litigation, our e-MD Reviews are vital in giving you a general understanding of your client’s circumstances and whether a more extensive review is warranted. This type of review is leaner and less expensive than the case reviews we perform to assist with litigation cases, but a benefit of e-MD is the faster turnaround time so you can quickly decide how to best manage your case.
Patient Safety Event Analysis
Every year, patients suffer injuries due to unsafe or poor-quality health care. Consistent and objective review of errors and adverse events is fundamental to delivering quality health services. In addition, since patient mortality is a key measure of care quality, an in-depth analysis of any death involving an incarcerated person can uncover a health system’s weaknesses, or alert decision-makers to single events with a high likelihood of recurrence. Therefore, an independent analysis of patient safety errors in prisons can identify system weaknesses so that changes can be made. This ensures incarcerated patients receive the same quality of care that they would expect in the community.
